When to use it
Prepare daylight for building or inspecting a Java arena. This sets time once; it does not freeze daytime or change ongoing rain or storms.
Before running
Warn Survival players or anyone relying on nighttime, because world time is shared. Check that no event or map system currently depends on night conditions.
Follow in order
All commands
Set the time
/time set daySets the time to the start of day
Check the time
/time query daytimeShows the time of day in ticks; right after setting day it should be near 1000
What to customize
day names a predefined time rather than a duration in seconds. Use the time tool for a specific value, separately from the rule governing time progression.
Verify the result
Inspect the sun and daylight in the Overworld after success, then observe progression under the world’s rules. Storm-darkened skies do not necessarily mean the time command failed.
When results differ
If night returns unexpectedly quickly, inspect commands or systems overriding time. Permanent daylight is a separate requirement; do not run this every tick without checking the cause.
